Making it Happen Seminar

On 4th June, key representatives from Edinburgh's development community met in the city's MacDonald Holyrood Hotel to consider how the development process in Edinburgh could be improved. Building on the momentum created by the Planning Act (Scotland) 2006 and the Council's existing culture change programme, the seminar gave developers, agents and planning officials a valuable opportunity to share experience and learn from each other.

During the half day event, participants identified a variety of ways in which they thought the development process could be improved. These ideas were then used to create a formal action plan which is now being taken forward jointly by the Council and its private sector partners. The full action plan can be downloaded here and a summary of the day's events can be found on pg 14-15 of the current issue.

Building a World Class City Region

On 5th November, key decision makers and opinion formers from across the City Region will come together once again for the 5th annual Edinburgh City Region Conference. This year's event will look at what it means to be a world class city region and how we get there. The event will also be used to launch a consultation on the region's new framework for economic development.

In a change from previous years, the conference will be held in the Royal College of Physicians, 9 Queen Street, Edinburgh. Full details of the programme will be available soon but for further information please contact the Capital Review team at capital.review@edinburgh.gov.uk
