Through one-to-one interviews with senior business leaders and on-line surveys, the actions required to facilitate growth and competitiveness were determined. The original Key Sectors report was undertaken in 2002 with an update being carried out and published in early 2006.

Travel to Work Patterns (City Development Research Station, CEC 2001)

Through analysis of the data given in the 2001 census, this study looks at the changing commuter patterns in the wider Edinburgh city region. With a particular focus upon the geographical spread of labour catchment areas and the mode of travel used in getting to work, it is possible to gain a greater understanding of Edinburgh’s zone of influence and the pressures being experienced on regional transportation routes.
